Title: Genetic Effects on Children’s Conversational Language Use
Authors: Laura S. DeThorne, Stephen A. Petrill, Sara A. Hart, Ron W. Channell, Rebecca J. Campbell, Kirby Deater-Deckard, Lee Anne Thompson, & David J. Vandenbergh
Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research (2008), 51, part 2, 423–435.

In this article, the authors inadvertently included 43 cases in which number of different words (NDW), number of total words (NTW), and total number of conjunctions (TNC) were calculated on fewer than 100 utterances. When the authors reconducted the univariate analyses with these cases excluded, the heritability estimate for NDW was no longer statistically significant: h2 = .40 (.00–.74). This error did not impact the significance of any other univariate estimate or the multivariate genetic analyses.
